Common questions
- Do I need accounting experience?
- No. LineLedger is a real double-entry system underneath, but day to day you work in invoices, bills, and bank reconciliation — the debits and credits happen correctly behind the scenes, and your accountant can drill into all of them.
- I bill clients in another currency. Will that work?
- Yes — per-contact currencies with daily rates and manual overrides, realized gain/loss on settlement, and unrealized period-end revaluations. Your home books stay in your own currency.
- Can my accountant get access?
- Yes — invite them as an Accountant member (or a custom role) with exactly the sections they need. No extra per-seat charge.
- What does it cost?
- Nothing. LineLedger is open source under the AGPLv3 — every feature on, no tiers and no per-seat fees. Your only cost is the small server you run it on.
